These two calves I have painted before, thanks to @Captured by Genni M, who allows me to use her amazing photos as my reference material. I just loved the feeling of this image and really wanted to push the colours both in the shadow and the highlight. Capturing the innocence of these calves as they interact playfully, and yet still show that they have a lot of growing to do. I used complimentary colours to help accentuate the pure colours used in areas, and I am over the moon with the result. It is painted in oils on a textured stretched canvas measuring 51cm x 76cm 20″x 30″ and is framed with a raw wood floating frame that just finishes it off perfectly.
