The Bumble Art Express Workshops

My goal is to travel to rural towns and teach my unique workshops with my horse float named “The Bumble Art Express”, thus enabling me to have my accommodation, equipment, and materials with me wherever I go. The workshops are informative, inspiring, and held in a safe and friendly environment. By sharing my knowledge, techniques, and tips I hope to inspire others in their art journey.

I hope that all workshop photos will have the hashtag #igotbumblearted and/or #teambumbleart so we can share the creativity and inspire each others on social media platforms.

Below are my four workshops that can be made to suit one day or five days, it gives you an overall idea of what I teach in each unique workshop.

If you think your community would be interested in my workshops, please contact me for further information.

Charcoal Drawing on Wood Panel

Drawing with charcoal on the hard surface allows you to create a real depth in tone, beautiful darks, and shadow, with strong highlights to bring the animal to life on the surface. This one-day workshop is a fun way of learning about the different types of charcoal mediums that I use, and what you can achieve with them to create a life-like drawing. Using the sight size method, which teaches free-hand drawing and hones your observation skills, to create your own masterpiece. It is a little messy, but a lot of fun!

Suitable for beginners, 13 years and up, or for artists happy to try something new. The workshops are informative, inspiring, and held in a safe and friendly environment.

The possibilities are endless with art!

Was a great workshop, lots to take in.

It was a wonderful, informative workshop and a fun way to spend the day.

Drawing Workshop

Drawing is a wonderful skill to develop, and the foundations of a lot of visual art forms. Teaching what I see as the fundamentals of drawing and making it simple to understand and do.

The workshops can be one or two days and are designed to guide participants through areas that I consider as the ‘must-knows’ when it comes to tonal drawing. Such as the tonal scale and its importance, the different mark making, understanding light and shadow, and the ‘how to’ of drawing in graphite pencil. and what makes a good reference photo and some handy editing techniques.

By sharing my knowledge, hints, and techniques that I find work best when capturing a true likeness, I hope to inspire others along the way. Suitable for beginners, 14 years and up, or for artists wanting to do a refresher. The workshops are informative, inspiring, and held in a safe and friendly environment.

Friendly, professional, informative, useful, good provision of tools.

Great workshop, well presented and good timing. Thanks for all your help and advise.

Ink Series Workshop

This two-day workshop is fun and creative, by using texture to create incredible effects with inks on a canvas. I will share my whole process that I use to create colourful, and interesting paintings that I call my “Therapy Paintings”, because you cannot totally control what happens, which creates lovely mistakes, and teaches you to let go a little!

It is a fun workshop using created texture, inks, and water spray. The paintings are interesting, colourful, and always attract attention.

Suitable for beginners, 14 years and up, or for artists happy to try something new. The workshops are informative, inspiring, and held in a safe and friendly environment.

It was fabulous, thank you!

Workshops

Oil Painting Workshop

Oil painting is often seen as a hard medium to use, but it is an incredible medium to learn and understand, it enables you to create beautiful images with mark making and blending.

It can be a one or two-day workshop, learning all about colour, value, and colour mixing. Together, we will create colour wheels, and a colour mixing chart, that you can use time and time again as a super colour reference tool. This knowledge will then enable you to portray your subject using colour and tone. I want to teach participants about a good reference photo, placement, composition and how to really capture the essence and a true likeness of your subject.

I hope by sharing my techniques and approach in a friendly and fun environment, I will inspire other artists and beginners (14 years and above), to have a go, experiment, and feel more confident in their art practise.
