The lighting in a painting I feel is so very important, especially when wanting to create a piece of art that draws attention to itself as does this one, which is quite perfect considering the title of “Budding Monarch”. What royal figure doesn’t have a spot light shining on them to showcase their strengths and leadership! I love the stillness in this painting, as if he is deep in thought but also ready to flee in a heartbeat. The simplicity of the oil paint on a raw linen canvas is stunning, conveying nothing more, or less, than the Budding Monarch in this very special moment. The stretched canvas measures 76cm x 61cm (30″x24″), which has been framed in a lovely raw timber floating frame that really finishes the whole piece, it is quite stunning and I feel photos do not do it justice. The overall measurements, with the frame are 80cm x65cm.
